Sol Academy Certified Personal Trainer Pro Series | Compound Mechanics: Part II
At Sol Academy, our mission is to provide high-quality, career-focused education at an accessible price, while keeping the human element at the heart of learning. Our CPT Pro Series is a cornerstone of that mission, offering exclusive, in-person education for our Certified Personal Trainer students and local fitness professionals. These sessions are designed to deepen understanding, sharpen skills, and bridge the gap between theory and real-world application.
This September, we close out the Compound Mechanics Series with the hip hinge, the movement pattern behind lifts like the deadlift, led by Coach Sunny Bayne and Coach Casey Bayne.
The hip hinge shows up everywhere, from deadlift variations to loaded carries to everyday bending and lifting. If you can teach this pattern well, you can coach a huge share of what walks through your door.
We'll break down:
Hip hinge anatomy and biomechanics: posterior chain mechanics, pelvis and spine positioning, and load transfer through the hips
Programming the hinge: progressions and regressions across deadlift variations (RDL, trap bar, conventional, sumo) and load management
Common hinge compensations and what they tell you: rounding, hyperextension, and hip shift
Adapting the hinge pattern for back limitations, mobility restrictions, and different client populations
Real-world coaching: cueing, bracing technique, and structuring a safe, effective session
This is the final piece of the Compound Mechanics Series, tying hip hinge mechanics, bracing, and load management together across every variation you'll coach.
As with all Sol Academy Pro Series classes, this session is intentionally designed to be hands-on, conversational, and rooted in real-world coaching scenarios, supporting your growth as a confident, informed fitness professional.
